Bohnenburg ( Low German Bohnenborg ) is a village in the Tripkau district of the municipality of Amt Neuhaus in Lower Saxony .

The place is five kilometers east of Hitzacker on the opposite bank of the Elbe in the Lower Saxony Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve .

history

For the year 1848 it is stated that Bohnenburg had 25 residential buildings in which 240 residents lived. At the time the place was parish to Tripkau, the school was in Wilkenstorf . On December 1, 1910, Bohnenburg had 152 inhabitants in the Bleckede district . As part of the territorial changes in Mecklenburg , Bohnenburg was incorporated into Tripkau on July 1, 1950. After German reunification , the place moved on June 30, 1993 from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to Lower Saxony in the district of Lüneburg . On October 1, 1993, Tripkau and Bohnenburg were incorporated into the municipality of Amt Neuhaus.
