Avenue of the year

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The title Allee of the Year has been awarded by the Federation for Environment and Nature Conservation Germany , the Alleenschutzgemeinschaft, the Schutzgemeinschaft Deutscher Wald and the Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deutsche Alleenstrasse since 2008 to draw attention to the threat to this type of landscape. Every year, photographers can send avenue pictures to a jury made up of representatives of the awarding organizations. In addition to the appearance of the avenue, its history, biodiversity and current situation (threat from deforestation for road widening or sick trees that are not replaced) also play a role in determining the winner. This will be announced on October 20th, “Avenue Day”.
