Braid of the year
In 2004, the lichen of the year was awarded for the first time by the Bryological-Lichenological Working Group for Central Europe (BLAM). It is intended to point out the increasing endangerment of lichens and their importance. Since 2011, the Austrian Nature Conservation Union has also received the “Lichen of the Year” award from NABU and BLAM.
