Cladonia digitata (L.) Hoffm., Also known as finger scarlet lichen , is a species of lichen fromthe Cladoniaceae family .

features

Macroscopic features

The thallus scales of Cladonia digitata (L.) Hoffm. are up to 4 mm wide, the edge curved upwards and the underside mealy sorediose . While the top is greenish-gray, the bottom is white and ocher yellow towards the base. The stems ( Podetien ) are pin-like or cup-shaped, below skinned and upwardly strongly mealy sorediös. The fruiting bodies ( apothecia ) are red.

Spot reaction

Thallus scales and podia turn yellow (K +) when dripping with potassium hydroxide , while the underside of the thallus scales turns orange (P +) with para- phenylenediamine .

Cladonia digitata contains thamnolic acid .
