Cave Animal of the Year
A cave animal of the year was first proclaimed in 2009 by the Association of German Cave and Karst Researchers (VdHK) to draw the public's attention to the little-known zoological biodiversity in underground habitats.
The selection of the cave animal should show the necessity of researching this little-known habitat as well as the associated endangerment of this special ecosystem .
