Medicinal plant of the year

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The medicinal plant of the year has been proclaimed annually in Germany since 1990, initially by the Association of Medicinal Herbal Friends of Germany eV (dissolved in 2004), since 2003 by the Association for the Promotion of Natural Healing by Theophrastus Bombastus von Hohenheim, known as Paracelsus eV ( NHV Theophrastus ).

The aim of the NHV Theophrastus is to provide information on the healing effects of herbs using the selected plant as an example and to point out the importance of phytotherapy in medicine. According to the association, the selection of the respective annual plant is the responsibility of an independent jury. The respective medicinal plant of the year is presented in the context of a popular science-oriented medicinal herb symposium, organized by the Saxon State Board of Trustees for Ländlicher Raum e. V., announced in the monastery of St. Marienstern and examined in more detail. Botany , ingredients and modes of action will be explained by various speakers.
