Invertebrate of the year

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The invertebrate animal of the year was proclaimed annually from 2001 to 2007 by the environmental center Waldschule Cappenberg to draw attention to the endangerment of invertebrates and their habitats. Even after the campaign was discontinued in 2007, invertebrates will be presented by various associations as part of the Nature of the Year project , including the spider of the year , the butterfly of the year or the dragonfly of the year . The mollusc of the year (Germany) and the insect of the year are presented in Germany and Austria according to separate guidelines. However, many groups of invertebrates such as worms or crustaceans do not appear much due to this subdivision.
