Danewitz

Danewitz is a district of the official city of Biesenthal in the Barnim district in Brandenburg . The place belongs to the office of Biesenthal-Barnim and was an independent municipality until October 26, 2003.

location

Danewitz is in the north of the Barnim countryside , eight kilometers northeast of the city of Bernau near Berlin and 15 kilometers southwest of the district town of Eberswalde . Not far from the village is the nature reserve Biesenthaler Becken , whereby the district of Danewitz is no longer part of this reserve. In the south, the area is crossed by the Danewitz spruce forest . The Danewitz drainage ditch flows through the town of Danewitz , plus the Danewitz protective ditch north of the town. In the Schmettauschen map series from 1767 there is still a Danewitz lake west of Danewitz , which is now called Dewinsee .

The district of Danewitz borders in the north on that of the city of Biesenthal, in the east on the Grüntal district of the municipality of Sydower Fließ , in the south on Tempelfelde (also in the municipality of Sydower Fließ) and in the west on the municipality of Rüdnitz . Danewitz itself includes the settlement and Priesterpfuhlsiedlung residential areas , both of which are located in the area of the Danewitz spruce trees.

The district road 6005 leads through Danewitz, which leads from there to Rüdnitz. About two kilometers north of the village is the state road 29 between Biesenthal and the village of Heckelberg . Landesstraße 200 is three kilometers to the southwest between Biesenthal and Bernau. The closest motorway connection is the Lanke exit on federal motorway 11, nine kilometers away . The Berlin – Szczecin railway also runs through Danewitz ; the nearest train station is in Biesenthal.

history

Danewitz was first mentioned in a document in 1375 as a village in the Landbuch der Mark Brandenburg , the personal name Clawus Danewutz appeared as early as 1364 . According to Reinhard E. Fischer, the place name is a transfer of the place name from Dennewitz , whose name is derived from the Slavic personal name Dan .

The place was laid out in the 12th century and was influenced in the Middle Ages by its location on the “Via Bizal” trade route . There was a forge in Danewitz since 1595 . In 1826 Danewitz was destroyed by a fire in the village, and the reconstruction of the village and church began in 1832. Danewitz historically belonged to the Biesenthal office , which was dissolved in 1839 and from then on Danewitz belonged to the Eberswalde-Neustadt rent office . The municipality had belonged to the Oberbarnim district in the Prussian province of Brandenburg since 1817 . In 1841 Danewitz had 224 inhabitants.

During the GDR district reform in July 1952, the Oberbarnim district was dissolved and from then on Danewitz was in the Eberswalde district in the Frankfurt (Oder) district . Since the turnaround and the Brandenburg district reform in 1993, the place has belonged to the Barnim district . On October 26, 2003 Danewitz was incorporated into Biesenthal .
