Kaarßen is a village in the municipality of Amt Neuhaus in the Lower Saxony district of Lüneburg , to which it has belonged since October 1, 1993.

history

From 1945 to 1990 Kaarßen was an independent municipality in the Soviet occupation zone and in the GDR . In 1946 it had 2,189 inhabitants.

On July 1, 1950, the previously independent communities of Bitter , Herrenhof , Laave , Privelack , Rassau and Stixe were incorporated.

From 1990 to June 1993 Kaarßen belonged to the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and was transferred to the state of Lower Saxony on June 30, 1990 by means of a state treaty. On October 1, 1993 Kaarßen, Dellien , Haar , Neuhaus , Stapel , Sumte and Tripkau merged to form the municipality of Amt Neuhaus. An extensive land consolidation was completed in 2013.

Infrastructure

The Kaarßen volunteer fire brigade provides fire protection and general help in the area. Until June 30, 2013, Kaarßen had its own consumer grocery store.

Attractions

The St. Mary's Church of the Evangelical Lutheran parish was built in 1842 and has a pneumatic organ built in 1910 by the Furtwängler and Hammer company in Hanover .
