St. Marien Church in Kaarßen

The Evangelical Lutheran St. Mary's Church is a classicist half-timbered church in Kaarßen in the municipality of Amt Neuhaus in the Lower Saxony district of Lüneburg .

location

The St. Marien Church is located in the center of the village of Kaarßen on a small hill directly on the federal highway 195 . The church is surrounded by trees and bushes to the north and east. To the southwest of the main road there is a meadow with a few trees. The church is accessed from the west via a small path. At the beginning there is a war memorial .

Building description

The church was built in 1842 in the classicism style. She is one in half-timbered style , built of red brick hall church whose nave only by supporting pillars of the round gallery is divided. There is a roof turret above the main entrance to the west . The door of the main entrance is made of bronze and shows various Christian symbols. A clock is attached to the west facade directly under the roof of the ridge. The roofs of the hall church and the ridge turret are covered with red tiles.

The interior is clearly structured. Corresponding to the number of apostles , the interior contains twelve windows, twelve light-colored stones in the foundation and twelve stands. In the interior there is a round gallery that surrounds the entire nave. The wooden pews are red, the gallery in whitish tones.

The organ comes from the Furtwängler & Hammer workshop . It was built in 1910.

Church organization

The church today belongs to the Evangelical Lutheran parish of Tripkau in the Lüneburg parish of the Evangelical Lutheran regional church of Hanover, along with the Church of St. Mary in Tripkau and the Church of Wehningen . Services are held alternately on Sundays in the churches of the parish, which is why there is a regular service in the St. Mary's Church every three weeks.
