Rassau ( Low German Rassau ) is a village in the Kaarßen district of the municipality of Amt Neuhaus in Lower Saxony .

The place is four kilometers northwest of Hitzacker on the opposite bank of the Elbe in the Lower Saxony Elbe Valley Biosphere Reserve .

history

For the year 1848 it is stated that Rassau had eight residential buildings under the name Groß Rassau , in which 70 residents lived and belonged to the Hitzacker office . For Klein Rassau in the Neuhaus district there were three with 44 residents. At the time, Klein Rassau was parish off to Kaarßen, and Groß Rassau to Hitzacker. The school was located in Groß Rassau and formed a school association with Strachau and Klein Rassau . On December 1, 1910, Groß Rassau had 93 inhabitants and Klein Rassau ten. Both communities belonged to the Bleckede district . As part of the area changes in Mecklenburg , Rassau was incorporated into Kaarßen on July 1, 1950. After German reunification , the place moved on June 30, 1993 from Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to Lower Saxony in the district of Lüneburg . On October 1, 1993, Kaarßen and Rassau were incorporated into the municipality of Amt Neuhaus.
