Intake manifold pressure sensor

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

An intake manifold pressure sensor measures the pressure in an intake manifold .

It can be attached directly to the intake manifold or housed in the control unit . In the latter case, it is connected to the suction pipe via a hose line. The sensor contains an evaluation circuit and a pressure cell with two sensor elements. The sensor element consists of a membrane that encloses a reference pressure chamber with a specific internal pressure . There are resistors on the membrane , the conductivity of which changes as a function of pressure if they are subjected to mechanical stresses due to the deformation of the membraneare exposed. The evaluation circuit has the tasks of amplifying the voltage change generated by the change in resistance, compensating for temperature influences and generating a characteristic that is as linear as possible. The amount of air drawn in is determined from the change in voltage via the intake manifold pressure.
