Hose line

A hose line consists of a flexible hose and the fittings and hose fittings at both ends of the line, such as flanges , screw connections and special hose couplings . Some types of piping connection are also suitable for hose assemblies. Pressing processes in particular are increasingly used today. Hose lines, like pipelines, are designated by nominal size DN and nominal pressure level PN. Hose lines serve as flexible connections for fluid transfer in hydraulic and pneumatic applications.

Pressure Equipment Directive

Hose lines are pipelines within the meaning of EC Directive 97/23 / EC ( Pressure Equipment Directive ). Depending on the hazard potential (criteria: maximum operating pressure, nominal diameter, gaseous or liquid fluid, fluid group), hose lines are classified in categories I to III and must be placed on the market with a CE mark. This does not apply to hose lines with only a low risk potential according to Art. 4 Para. 3 of the Pressure Equipment Directive.

Industrial Safety Ordinance

Due to pressure pulses, wear and tear, aging and damage, hose lines represent particular hazards and are therefore subject to special operating regulations as specified for work equipment in the Industrial Safety Ordinance. These are, for example, the test after proper assembly and safe function and the regular recurring tests by a qualified person in terms of TRBS 1201. The test periods for the recurring tests are to be specified by the operator as part of the risk assessment or the safety-related assessment.

Hose lines must be replaced at appropriate intervals. The possible duration of use of hose lines depends to a large extent on the application and environmental conditions. Therefore, no generally applicable maximum permissible period of use can be determined by the manufacturer or others. For example, BGR 237 sets a guideline value for normal stressed hydraulic hose lines for a period of use of six years and two years for hydraulic hose lines with increased stress.
