Ingjerd Schou (* 20th January 1955 in Sarpsborg as Ingjerd shooting ) is a Norwegian politician of the Conservative Party Høyre . From 2001 to 2004 she was Minister of Social Affairs in the Bondevik II government .

education and profession

Schou trained as a nurse from 1974 to 1977. From 1977 to 1987 she worked as a nurse. From 1987 she studied health administration at the University of Oslo . After graduating, she worked as a consultant in the health department of Østfold Province . From 1991 to 1997, Schou headed the Indre Østfold Hospital and from 1998 to 2001 she was the head of the health system in Health District 2.

Political career

Schou sat in Spydeberg's local parliament from 1991 to 2013 . In 2001 Schou was elected to the Norwegian parliament, the Storting , for the first time for the province of Østfold . On October 19, 2001, she was appointed Minister of Social Affairs. She held this office until June 18, 2004. In the parliamentary elections in 2005 , she missed the re-entry.

In 2007 she was elected to the Fylkesting of Østfold, where she sat until 2015. Until 2009, she held the chairmanship of her party. In the parliamentary elections in 2009 she managed to move into Storting again, where she has been a member since then. Since 2013 is the chair of the delegation for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe . Between October 2013 and September 2017 she was also the fourth Vice President of the Storting. For the period from October 2017 to September 2020, she was elected as deputy secretary of her parliament. However, on January 30, 2020, she took over the office of fifth Vice President in Storting after her predecessor Abid Raja entered government.
