William Engseth

William Engseth (born August 1, 1933 in Målselv ) is a Norwegian sports functionary and politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). From 1987 to 1989 he was a minister in the Brundtland II government , from 1989 to 1997 he was a member of the Storting .

Life

In 1952 and 1953, Engseth attended an officer school for the infantry. He was then commander in the Norwegian Air Force until 1967 . Between 1960 and 1965 he also worked part-time as a physical education teacher. From 1967 to 1983 he was administrator of the training center of the Norwegian Sports Federation in Bardufoss .

Political career

Engseth was a member of Målselv's local parliament from 1967 to 1975. In 1975 he moved to Fylkesting in the province of Troms . From 1979 to 1983 he was part of the Ap. In 1983 he was elected Fylkesordfører of the region, which he remained until 1987.

On February 20, 1987, he was appointed Minister of Local Affairs and Labor. On 13 June 1988 he moved to the Department of Transportation , where he 1989 to October 16, Minister of Transport was.
