Kjell Borgen

Kjell Borgen (born October 21, 1939 in Oslo , † August 22, 1996 ) was a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). From 1986 to 1992 he was minister of his country and then Fylkesmann .

education and profession

Between 1962 and 1972 Borgen taught at various schools. He then worked in the local government of Rendalen .

Political career

Borgen was a member of the local parliament of Rendalen from 1965 to 1977. From 1967 he was the mayor of the place. He was also a member of the Fylkesting in Hedmark Province between 1967 and 1979 . He was deputy Fylkesordfører from 1974 to 1975 . From 1976 Kjell Borgen was the chairman of his party in the Hedmark. He held this post until 1990.

From 1977 Borgen made it into the Norwegian parliament, the Storting, four times . So he was a member of parliament there until 1993. Between October 1981 and September 1985 he was chairman of the transport committee and then until May 1986 deputy chairman of the municipal and environmental protection committee.

On May 9, 1986, he was appointed Minister of Transport in the Brundtland II government. On June 13, 1988, he moved to the Ministry of Municipalities and Labor, where he remained until the end of the government on October 16, 1989. In the government of Brundtland III he was again until September 4, 1992 the post of local minister . Then he was parliamentary group chairman of the Ap im Storting until the end of the legislative period in September 1993.

In 1993 he took up his post as a Fylkesmann in the province of Hedmark. He held the post until his death in 1996.
