Eldrid Nordbø

Eldrid Nordbø (born August 12, 1942 in Skien ) is a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). She was her country's trade minister from November 1990 to November 1991.

Political career

In 1971 Nordbø worked as a personal secretary in the Ministry of Social Affairs. From 1971 to 1979 she was a member of the Oslo City Council . From 1981 to 1986 she was a department head in the local ministry. From May 1986 to October 1989 she served as State Secretary in the Statsministerens kontor , the state chancellery of the Norwegian Prime Minister. She then worked as a consultant in the Ministry of the Environment until 1990 .

On November 3, 1990, she was appointed Minister of Commerce in the Brundtland III government. This office, which is part of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, she held until November 15, 1991. She then returned to her position as a consultant in the Ministry of the Environment until 1992. In 1992 she became Head of Administration ( Departementsråd ) in the Ministry of Social Affairs and Health. In 1996 she moved to the Ministry of the Environment as a department head.
