Ole Knapp

Ole Knapp (born November 8, 1931 in Gjøvik ; † November 4, 2015 ) was a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). From 1990 to 1992 he was the minister of economics in his country.

Life

Knapp worked as a mechanic in his home town of Gjøvik from 1947 to 1967. In 1965 he missed entry into the Norwegian Parliament in Storting . Between 1967 and 1975 he was a member of the local parliament of this municipality. From 1971 he was also a member of the Fylkesting of Oppland .

From 1979 to 1987 he worked in the management of Oljedirektorat , the Norwegian authority responsible for regulating oil production. From 1980 he was also a member of the Rikslønnsnemnda , the state body that can intervene in strikes. From 1987 to 1991 he was its deputy chairman and deputy chairman of the trade union confederation Landsorganisasjonen i Norge (LO).

On November 3, 1990, he was appointed Minister of Economics in the newly established Brundtland III government. He held the post until September 4, 1992.
