Oskar Øksnes

Oskar Ingemann Øksnes (born April 11, 1921 in Kvam ; † March 27, 1999 ) was a Norwegian politician of the Arbeiderpartiet (Ap). He was his country's Minister of Agriculture from 1976 to 1981.

Life

From 1944 to 1947 he attended the Norwegian Agricultural College. He then worked in agriculture for what was then the province of North Trøndelag . From 1956 he was a so-called county agronomist who was responsible for administrative tasks and advising farmers in a province. Between 1955 and 1962 he was deputy mayor of the Egge municipality .

Øksnes was appointed State Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture on April 17, 1964 , which he remained until October 12, 1965. Then he was Fylkeslandbrukssjef ( German : Provincial Agriculture Chief ) of the province of Møre og Romsdal . He moved into the local parliament of Molde in 1967 , where he served as a member of parliament until 1975 and was also a member of the Fylkesting von Møre og Romsdal during the same period .

On January 15, 1976 he became Minister of Agriculture in the Nordli government . He continued to hold office in the Brundtland I government until October 14, 1981. He then worked again as Fylkeslandbrukssjef , but now for his home province of North Trøndelag.

In 1987 he was awarded the St. Olav Order in the "Knight 1st Class" class.
