Arvid Johanson

Arvid Johanson (born February 3, 1929 in Halden ; † November 6, 2013 ) was a Norwegian politician . From 1980 to 1981 he was his country's oil and energy minister.

Political career

From 1958 to 1961 Johanson represented the province of Østfold in the Norwegian parliament, the Storting . In the 1961 election he was unable to re-enter, but he was promoted to parliament in January 1964 after his party colleague Henry Jacobsen died. In 1965 he moved back directly to Storting, where he was subsequently represented as a member of parliament until 1981. From 1975 to 1979 he was the chairman of the industry committee and then until October 1980 the chairman of the committee for foreign policy. Between 1962 and 1974 he was the chairman of Ap in Østfold.

On October 3, 1980, he was appointed Minister of Oil and Energy in the Nordli government. He continued to hold office in the Brundtland I government until its departure on October 14, 1981.

Away from politics, he worked as a journalist. From 1982 to 1993 he was an editor at Halden Arbeiderblad , where he had already worked as a member of parliament before his time.
