Riksantikvaren
Riksantikvaren (German: Reichsantiquar) is the highest monument protector in Norway and at the same time the highest monument authority ( directorate for culture minneforvaltning ) responsible for monument protection and preservation .
The authority reports to the Ministry of the Environment ( Klima- og miljødepartementet ). She oversees local authorities, Fylkeskommunen , the Sameting , the Sysselmann in Spitzbergen and the state museums.
The authority was founded in 1912 and is based at Dronningens gate 13 in Oslo . As of December 31, 2017, 153 people were employed.
