Heikki Holmås (born June 28, 1972 in Voss ) is a Norwegian politician of the Sosialistisk Venstreparti (SV). From 2012 to 2013 he was development minister in the Stoltenberg II government .

Life

Heikki Holmås is the son of the Norwegian author Stig Holmås and the engineer and textile worker Ingebjørg Monsen. In January 2013, his stepfather Tore Bech died when In Aménas was taken hostage in Algeria .

From 1995 to 1996 he was chairman of the youth organization Sosialistisk Ungdom (SU) in the province of Hordaland . Between 1996 and 1999 he was the nationwide chairman of the SU and as such also a member of the SV board. From 2008 to 2010 he was also chairman of the SV in Oslo .

Holmås was a member of Bergen City Council during the 1995-1999 legislature . In 2001 he was first elected to the Norwegian Parliament, the Storting . He represented the city of Oslo until 2017. Between 2005 and 2012 he was a member of the SV parliamentary group chairmanship. From October 2009 to March 2012 he also headed the parliamentary local and administrative committee. In the general election in 2017 it did not occur more again.

On March 23, 2012, he was appointed Minister of Development, an office within the Foreign Ministry. He held this post until the end of the government on October 16, 2013.

In 2017 he was elected chairman of Frivillighet Norge - an organization that manages voluntary activities for various associations.
