Knut Storberget (born October 6, 1964 in Elverum ) is a Norwegian social democratic politician . From 2005 to 2011 he was Minister of Justice in the Jens Stoltenberg II government . Since January 2019 he is Fylkesmann province Innlandet .

education and profession

Storberget is a lawyer and admitted to the bar. He completed his studies at the University of Oslo until 1990 . Between 1992 and 2002 he worked as a lawyer.

Political career

From 1991 to 1999 Storberget was a member of Elverum's local parliament. In the general election in 2001 , he was first to the Storting elected, his constituency Hedmark . From October 17, 2005, Knut Storberget was Minister for Justice and Police in Jens Stoltenberg's second cabinet . On November 11, 2011, he assumed political responsibility for failures by the security forces in connection with the July 22, 2011 terrorist attacks . He resigned from his post without being attested to any personal misconduct.

In 2017 he no longer stood for re-election as a Storting MP. In June 2017 it became known that he was the first Fylkesmann the new province Innlandet to be. He has been in office for the province that will only exist from January 1, 2020 since January 1, 2019.
