Manuela Myriam Henri Ramin-Osmundsen (born July 15, 1963 in Antony , France ) is a French-born , Norwegian politician of the Labor Party (Ap) .

In 1991 she immigrated from France to Norway and obtained citizenship in 2007 after applying for it seven months earlier. On October 18, 2007 she was appointed minister for children and equality in the 2nd Stoltenberg cabinet, but resigned from this position on February 14, 2008 because of allegations of influencing the employment of the new child ombudswoman Ida Hjort Kraby. The Department of Labor Ministry's anti-discrimination work was also assigned to her responsibility .

She was the first Norwegian minister with a migration background, apart from Astrid Gjertsen , who was of Danish descent , who was Minister of Consumption and Administration from 1981 to 1986. Ramin-Osmundsen studied law at the University of Paris II with a focus on European law . She also trained in special education at the Oslo University of Applied Sciences . She is married to former personal advisor to former Prime Minister Kåre Willoch and former chairman of Unge Høyre , Terje Osmundsen .

From 1998 to 2002 she headed the Center against Ethnic Discrimination. From 2002 to 2006 she was the second director of the UDI Immigration Service, and from March 17, 2006 to May 22, 2006 its director. After that she worked as a counselor in the Foreign Ministry and from August 2007 until her appointment as Minister in the temp agency Manpower Inc. operates.
