Peter Angelsen

Peter Angelsen (born February 6, 1935 in Vestvågøy ) is a Norwegian politician of the Senterpartiet (Sp) and fisherman . From 1981 to 1997 he was a member of parliament in Storting and from October 1997 to January 2000 the fisheries minister of his country.

Life

Angelsen is the son of a fisherman and he himself worked as a fisherman from 1951 to 1981. Between 1971 and 1981 he was a member of the local parliament in his home municipality Vestvågøy .

In the 1981 parliamentary elections , Angelsen entered the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time . There he represented the constituency of Nordland and initially became a member of the Maritime and Fisheries Committee, where he remained after the 1985 election . Following the Storting election in 1989 , he became the deputy chairman there. Angelsen took over the post of deputy chairman of the economic committee after the 1997 parliamentary election . During his time in Storting, Angelsen was a member of the parliamentary group committee of the Senterpartiet group between 1981 and 1993.

On October 17, 1997, he was appointed Minister of Fisheries in the Bondevik I government. He held the office until January 21, 2000.
