Melbu (or Melbo ) is a settlement in the municipality of Hadsel on the Vesterålen archipelago , which belongs to the Norwegian province of Nordland . Melbu is a few kilometers south of Hadseløya municipality . In 2012 Melbu had 2134 inhabitants.

Melbu is connected to Fiskebøl municipality by ferry via European route 10 and to Stokmarknes by bridges. The nearest airport is also in Stokmarknes, about 25 kilometers away by road.

Melbu used to be the landing stage for the Hurtigruten mail line .
