Fabian Stang (born August 19, 1955 in Oslo ) is a Norwegian lawyer and politician of the conservative Høyre party . From 2007 to 2015 he was mayor of Oslo.

Life

Stang's parents are entrepreneur Thomas Stang and actress Wenche Foss . He successfully completed his law studies at the University of Oslo in 1983. From 1983 to 1985 he worked as an advokatfullmektig (preparatory work before being admitted to the bar), and since 1986 as a lawyer . From 1991 he was active in municipal bodies, from 1999–2007 he was a member of the Oslo City Council for two terms, where he also worked on several committees. After a short period as deputy mayor, he was elected mayor of Oslo in 2007 and confirmed for a further four-year term in 2011. In 2015 Marianne Borgen was elected as his successor.

Private

Fabian Stang is married and has two adult sons.

Honors

In 2011 he was awarded the Order for Services to Lithuania during the state visit of the Lithuanian President Dalia Grybauskaitė to Norway .
