Eckart Kuhlwein (born April 11, 1938 in Schleswig ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1981 to 1982 he was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Minister of Education and Science .

Life

After graduating from high school in Nuremberg in 1956 , Kuhlwein completed a degree in economics in Munich , Würzburg and Erlangen , which he completed in 1960 with a degree in economics . He then worked as a journalist, first in Kiel and then from 1962 to 1964 as a political editor for the Lübecker Nachrichten . After he had been editor-in-chief of a publication on political public relations since 1964, Kuhlwein was editor-in-chief of an educational policy journal from 1969 to 1972 . Eckart Kuhlwein is married, has four children and six grandchildren. His wife Sigrid has been with Ammersbek in the Stormarn district council since 1986.

Political party

He has been a member of the SPD since 1965. From 1969 to 1971 he was state chairman of the Jusos in Schleswig-Holstein . From 1973 to 1974 he was also deputy chairman of the SPD in Schleswig-Holstein and from 1975 continued to be a member of the state executive. In 1996 he founded a. a. together with Ulrike Mehl and Konrad Nabel the “umWeltforum” of the SPD Schleswig-Holstein. To this day, he is the honorary managing director of the forum. In January 2015 he received the Willy Brandt Gold Medal from the SPD for his services to the party, presented by Ralf Stegner to the SPD state chairman in Schleswig-Holstein

From 1971 until his resignation on October 28, 1976, Kuhlwein was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein state parliament and was deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1975 to 1976 . From 1976 to 1998 Kuhlwein was then a member of the German Bundestag . From 1988 to 1990 he was chairman of the Enquête Commission on Future Education Policy - Education 2000 and from 1990 to 1994 chairman of the committee for education and science. Eckart Kuhlwein entered the Bundestag in 1980 as a directly elected member of the Bundestag constituency of the Duchy of Lauenburg - Stormarn-Süd and otherwise always through the Schleswig-Holstein state list.

Kuhlwein is the federal group leader for nature and environmental protection and gentle tourism (NUST) of Germany's Friends of Nature . Kuhlwein has been chairman of the German-Cypriot forum since 1999.
