Ulrike Mehl
Ulrike Mehl , née Lehnhausen (born August 6, 1956 in Leibolz ( Hesse ), now Eiterfeld ) is a German graduate engineer for land management and a former politician ( SPD ). She was a member of the German Bundestag from 1990 until the 2005 Bundestag election .
Life
After completing secondary school, Ulrike Mehl completed training in gardening and landscaping from 1972 to 1974. In 1974 she began her studies at the Geisenheim University of Applied Sciences , which she graduated in 1978. She then worked in the Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of Agriculture until 1980 and in the Schleswig-Holstein State Office for Nature Conservation until 1981.
In 1983 she joined the SPD. In the same year she became project manager of the federal campaign for the environment and nature conservation Germany (BUND). After she had already been district chairman at BUND, she became state chairman in 1985. She held this office until 1988. From 1986 to 1990 she was also Deputy Federal Chairwoman. From 1985 to 1987 she was deputy chairwoman of the State Nature Conservation Association of Schleswig-Holstein .
Ulrike Mehl was elected to the German Bundestag in 1990 and 1994 via the state list of the SPD in Schleswig-Holstein. In 1998 and 2002 she won the direct mandate in the constituency of Rendsburg-Eckernförde . She did not run again for the 2005 Bundestag election. Her honorary posts in Schleswig-Holstein included the deputy state chairman of the SPD and the honorary judge at the Schleswig Administrative Court.
After the end of her political mandate, she moved to Berlin. Since then she has been offering tourist trips to Berlin with her company Dienstwerker. From December 2007 to November 2013 she was again Deputy Federal Chairwoman of the Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation Germany (BUND).
