Leibolz is a district of the market town of Eiterfeld in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .

Geographical location

The district of Leibolz is about two kilometers from the main town Eiterfeld and is located southeast of it on the ridge between the valley systems of the Eitra in the west and the Taft in the east in the Rhön . Lichtberg ( 465 m ) and Rückersberg ( 524.7 m ) tower over Leibolz with their wooded peaks in the southwest and a little further away in the south. Leibolz and Eiterfeld have grown together structurally, not least because of an extensive industrial area in between.

history

Leibolz was first mentioned in a document in 1248.

In the course of the regional reform in Hesse , a number of voluntary amalgamations of municipalities arose, in which the previously independent municipality of Leibolz participated. The state government then decided, with effect from May 1, 1970, to incorporate the Leibolz community into the Eiterfeld community in the Hünfeld district .

traffic

Landesstraße 3170 , which connects the town with Eiterfeld and Großentaft , runs through Leibolz . In the center of the village, the district road 147 crosses from Ufhausen in the northeast to Malges in the southwest.
