Betzenrod is a part of the market town of Eiterfeld in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .

Geographical location

Betzenrod is the southernmost part of the municipality, about three kilometers from the main town of Eiterfeld and is located in the Rhön .

history

Betzenrod was first mentioned in 1484.

In the run-up to the regional reform in Hesse , a number of voluntary amalgamations of municipalities arose in which the previously independent municipality of Betzenrod also participated. With effect from February 1, 1971, the state government decided to merge the communities of Arzell, Betzenrod, Eiterfeld, Großentaft, Körnbach, Soisdorf and Treischfeld in the district of Hünfeld to form a community called Eiterfeld .

The state road 3171 , which connects the town with Eiterfeld and Burghaun , runs through Betzenrod .
