Mengers is a part of the market town of Eiterfeld in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .

Geographical location

The district Mengers is about three and a half kilometers from the main town Eiterfeld and lies north of it in the headwaters of the Wölf , which is counted with the Eitra valley system to the Rhön .

history

Mengers was first mentioned in a document in 1510.

At the regional end of the regional reform in Hesse , the last small communities like Menger's force of law lost their independence. With effect from August 1, 1972, the communities Buchenau, Leimbach, Mengers, Ufhausen and Wölf were incorporated into the community Eiterfeld in the district of Hünfeld , which was also merged with the district of Fulda to form a district called the district of Fulda . In it, the previously independent city of Fulda became the district town .
