Oberweiseborn is a district of the market town of Eiterfeld in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .

Geographical location

The district Oberweiseborn is about three and a half kilometers from the main town of Eiterfeld and is located northeast of it in the headwaters of the (southern) Solz in the Rhön .

history

The earliest surviving mention of the place in the spelling Ober-Weisenborn certifies its existence since 1336.

In the run-up to the territorial reform in Hesse , a number of voluntary amalgamations of municipalities arose, in which the previously independent municipality of Oberweiseborn also participated. As a result, the state government decided, with effect from April 1, 1972, to integrate the communities of Dittlofrod and Oberweiseborn in the district of Hünfeld into the community of Eiterfeld.

traffic

Oberweiseborn is just east of the state road 3171 (between Eiterfeld and Schenklengsfeld ) and is connected to it by the short district road 157 as a spur road.
