Großentaft is a district of the market town of Eiterfeld in the eastern Hessian district of Fulda .

Geographical location

Großentaft is located southeast of the main town in the Rhön . State roads 3170 and 3173 meet in the village. Großentaft is located on the former Hünfeld – Wenigentaft-Mansbach railway , which is now the skittles cycle path .

history

On the Rasdorfer district belonging Kleinberg , one of the volcanic cone MOUNTAINS of Hessian Kegelspiel southeast of Großentaft are the remains of probably only about a kilometer Celtic small one-piece Iron Age Ringwallanlage Kleinberg . A similar facility is located on Stallberg, just a few kilometers to the west .

The first documentary mention dates back to the year 815. On February 1, 1971, the previously independent community Großentaft was incorporated into the community Eiterfeld.

Economy and Infrastructure

In the village there is the Großentaft primary school , a community library and a village community center . The Catholic Church and the kindergarten are dedicated to St. Joseph . There is also a bakery, two restaurants and a former sister house, which is used today by the Kolping family Großentaft.
