The Santa Christiana School Wiener Neustadt is a Catholic private school with public rights on Wiener Straße in the municipality of Wiener Neustadt in Lower Austria . The school building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The former Krupp spoon factory was bought in 1903 by the school order of the childhood daughters of Jesus and Mary . The building was converted into a school building in 1903/1904. The school was opened and consecrated on October 1, 1904 with Provost Karl Schnabl. At first the school was a so-called girls' boarding school and was run by the sisters until 1938. The National Socialists expropriated the school building from the sisters and the sisters had to leave Wiener Neustadt. The school was continued by the municipality. After the war from 1945, the building served as a shelter for the homeless, as quarters for Russian soldiers and as a hospital.

architecture

The three-storey, late-historical building with an L-shaped floor plan, free-standing in a park, shows an upper storey structured with pilaster strips and a crowning triangular gable.

school

The school includes an elementary school, a new middle school, a polytechnic school, and a day boarding school.
