Hans-Dieter Moritz (born January 13, 1940 in Daaden ) is a German politician and former member of the state parliament ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school, Moritz completed an apprenticeship as a construction fitter at Erzbergbau Siegerland AG from 1954 to 1957 and then worked as a fitter at the Pfannenberger Einigkeit mine until 1962 . From 1962 to 1963 he also worked as a fitter at the Füssenberg - Friedrich Wilhelm mine in Biersdorf . He also founded a rental car company in 1962, which was later continued by his father and brother. From 1963 to 1965 he was home manager at IG Bergbau und Energie in Saalfelden . From 1965 to 1985 Moritz was party manager of the SPD in the sub-districts of Siegen-Wittgenstein and Olpe.

Moritz has been a member of the SPD since 1961. He was represented in numerous party committees at sub-district level, and was chairman of the SPD in Neunkirchen for many years. He is also a member of the mining and energy union.

Moritz is married and has two children and three grandchildren.

From May 30, 1985 to June 2, 2005 Moritz was a member of the Landtag of North Rhine-Westphalia for the 10th, 11th, 12th and 13th electoral periods. He was directly elected in the constituency 145 Siegen-Wittgenstein II . From 1990 to 2005 he was a member of the Presidium of the State Parliament.

Moritz was a member and temporarily deputy mayor of the Neunkirchen municipality council from 1969 to 1984, and was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group until 1979. From 1979 to 2004 Moritz was a member of the district assembly of the Siegen-Wittgenstein district, from 1981 to 2004 as chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. From 2005 to 2014 he was chairman of the SGK Siegen-Wittgenstein and has been its honorary chairman since 2014.
