Eddie Zack
Eddie Zack (born January 2, 1922 in Providence , Rhode Island , as Edward Zackarian , † January 9, 2002 ibid) was an American country musician . Zack was best known for his appearances on various radio broadcasts.
Life
Childhood and youth
Eddie Zack was born in Rhode Island in 1922 and first appeared at the age of 16 with his brother Richie, who would later start a career himself under the stage name "Cousin Richie". Zack's sisters Babs and Maril also later played in Zack's band.
Career
Zack founded the Dude Ranchers in 1939, but didn't begin appearing on the radio until 1947. He stayed with WHIM until 1957 and started his own shows in 1952 at the Symphony Hall in Boston . The WCOP Hayloft Jamboree , of which Zack also belonged, was held in this hall . His Dude Ranch Jamboree was fed into the NBC network , so it was audible across the country.
Zack had already recorded his first records in 1948 and received a contract with Decca Records in 1951 . In 1953 he moved to Columbia Records . Some of the tracks there were You Knew Me When You Were Lonely , Cryin 'Tears or I'm Gonna Rock and Roll , many of which were recorded together with Brother Richie. It was often common in western swing bands to hire outside vocalists. Even so, Zack never got a hit; its popularity was limited to the radio.
During his career, Zack appeared on many different radio and television stations. During the turn of the millennium, Zack could still be heard on WJJF in Hope Valley , Rhode Island. In 1895 he was honored with induction into the Rhode Island Country Music Hall of Fame .
Eddie Zack died in 2002 after an operation at the age of 80.
