The Hayloft Jamboree was an American country show broadcast by WCOP in Boston , Massachusetts .

history

Beginnings

The Hayloft Jamboree started broadcasting in 1951. The moderator from the beginning was Nelson Bragg, whose saying “ Coast to Coast, from Revere to Nantasket, the Hayloft Jamboree tonight! “Was heard at the beginning of every broadcast. The show quickly gained popularity in New England , and afternoon shows were set up in the WCOP studio. By 1954 there were 30 members at the Hayloft Jamboree performing there every Saturday night.

successes

Around 1954, two successful country musicians became members of the show: Ray Smith , who was under contract with Columbia Records at the time , and Elton Britt , who also appeared on various other radio shows and released his records on RCA Victor . The Hayloft Jamboress was produced by Autrey L. Mayhew, who also worked in the music business, including as A&R manager and manager of Jack Clement , who also appeared regularly on the show. Other well-known and successful members were Jimmy Walker , Eddie Zack , Tex Owen and Carl Stuart . The Saturday night shows, which were held in various auditoriums, could be heard all over the east coast of the United States. After 1956, Rosalie Allen became the host of the show.

In the 1960s, the Hayloft Jamboree lost its popularity and was discontinued due to dwindling ratings.
