Carina Barbara Gödecke (born October 25, 1958 in Groß-Gerau ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She is a member of parliament and was president of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament . She has been First Vice President of the State Parliament since June 2017.

biography

Gödeckes father was a foreman at the main Opel plant in Rüsselsheim and was needed to build the Bochum plant , so the family moved. After graduating from the Hildegardis School in Bochum in 1977, she completed an apprenticeship as a chemistry and secondary education teacher from 1977 to 1986. She completed this in 1986 with the second state examination. From 1986 to 1990 she worked for Ernst-Otto Stüber's constituency in Bochum , then until 1995 she was an educational consultant at the Heinz-Kühn-Bildungswerk in Dortmund . Gödecke is married.

Party and mandate

Gödecke comes from a social democratic family; great-grandfather and grandfather were already members of the SPD. Since October 1974 she has been a member of the Social Democratic Party of Germany. From 1989 to 1995 Gödecke was a member of the Bochum City Council , like her two parents in the 1960s and 1970s. Since June 1, 1995 she has been a member of the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament. From 2000 to 2010 she was the parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group and from July 2010 to May 31, 2012, the first vice-president of the state parliament. In the 16th electoral term, she was President of the State Parliament from May 2012 to May 2017. She is the chairwoman of the NRW-Turkey parliamentary group.

She is also deputy SPD chairwoman in Bochum and chairwoman of the SPD in the Bochum-Ost district.

Gödecke is chairwoman of the board of the pension fund for the members of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia and the state parliament of Brandenburg . She is also a member of the "Standing Committee for Political Responsibility" of the Evangelical Church of Westphalia , chairwoman of the shareholders' meeting of the Evangelical Association of Ruhr , member of the administrative board of the Academic Promotion Agency , member of the board of trustees of the Stiftung Lebensrettung Westfalen and a member of the university council of the Georg Agricola technical college in Bochum. In addition, Gödecke is involved in the Inner Mission of the Diakonisches Werk Bochum . She is a member of Ver.di , IFAK eV - Association for multicultural child and youth welfare - migration work and the workers' welfare . Gödecke is a member of the Board of Trustees for the House of History in North Rhine-Westphalia and of the Situation Art Foundation .
