The pension fund for the members of the state parliaments of North Rhine-Westphalia, Brandenburg and Baden-Württemberg (short: pension fund of the state parliaments - VLT) is a self-governing body under public law . The purpose is to secure the pension for the elderly and survivors of the members of the state parliaments of North Rhine-Westphalia , Brandenburg and Baden-Württemberg .

history

At the beginning of the 14th electoral term on June 8, 2005, the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia was the first German state parliament to change the system of parliamentary payments and benefits. The tax-free lump sums have been abolished and the state pension and survivors' benefits abolished. Instead, the local deputies received since a taxable monthly total from which a compulsory pension premium in the founded for the elected pension fund flows.

The state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia then approved a law in June 2013 that authorized the state parliament president to sign a contract with the state parliament of Brandenburg on a joint pension scheme. From the beginning of the 6th electoral term of the Brandenburg State Parliament on October 8, 2014, the pension fund was called the Pension Fund of the Members of the North Rhine-Westphalia State Parliament and the Brandenburg State Parliament . Since that date, the members of the Brandenburg State Parliament were also members of the pension fund.

From December 1, 2019, the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg also joined the pension fund. Since then, the pension fund has been called the pension fund of the members of the state parliaments of North Rhine-Westphalia, Brandenburg and Baden-Württemberg.

organization

Contributions, benefits and structure of the pension fund are regulated by the parliament and pension fund laws of the federal states involved as well as the statutes of the pension fund. They essentially correspond to those of other professional pension institutions.

As organs of self-government, the statutes determine:

  • the meeting of representatives
  • the board
  • the chairperson of the board

The managing directors conduct the day-to-day business according to the principles determined by the board.

collaboration

The pension fund of the members of the state parliaments of North Rhine-Westphalia, Brandenburg and Baden-Württemberg works closely with the Ärzteversorgung Westfalen-Lippe (ÄVWL), which takes on the management of the capital investment on the basis of a management contract. The cooperation with the ÄVWL allows the pension fund a lean administration.
