The Hildegardis School is a high school in Bochum . It is located between the city park and the pedestrian zone in downtown Bochum and is therefore one of the two large high schools in Bochum's city center alongside the Goethe School Bochum . Due to the fact that the Goethe School and the Hildegardis School are physically close to each other, joint courses and subjects are offered in the upper level.
history
The school was founded in 1860 by the young Bochum teacher Henriette von Noël as a "higher private girls school" in Augustastraße (today Hans-Böckler-Straße ). An extension followed in 1901, followed by a Catholic teachers' college in 1904. In 1916, the school chose the scientist, theologian and writer Hildegard von Bingen as its namesake .
The architects Norbert Demmel and Walter Gemmer from Düsseldorf won the architecture competition for a new building on Klinikstrasse in 1953 . It was inaugurated on November 13, 1957. The Bochum Planetarium , which opened in 1964, and the New Bochum Synagogue as well as the Bochum City Park are in the immediate vicinity .
Today the school is a municipal high school for boys and girls with a bilingual Franco-German branch. In addition to the German Abitur , the French Baccalauréat can be acquired.
In 2008 the school was certified as a European school in North Rhine-Westphalia by the Ministry of Education and was once again recognized as the school of the future . In 2010, the Hildegardis School took part in the events for the Ruhr 2010 - European Capital of Culture as part of the Twins 2010 project .
