Ernst-Otto Stüber

Ernst-Otto Stüber (born July 4, 1940 in Hanover ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1994 to 2004 he was Lord Mayor of Bochum .

By training as a journalist (traineeship 1963–1965, local editor at the Westfälische Rundschau until 1970), from 1970 Stüber was a union editor at IG Bergbau und Energie and from 1985 to 1994 a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He resigned this mandate after his election on November 4, 1994 as full-time Lord Mayor of Bochum; he was re-elected Mayor on September 26, 1999. For reasons of age he did not run for election in 2004.

In the 2002 collective bargaining round of the public service, Stüber was the chief negotiator of the municipal employers' associations in his capacity as chairman (since 1998) . Stüber is still a member of the board of pro Ruhrgebiet eV, an association of companies and individuals that is committed to promoting structural change in this area.

On December 20, 2010, he was elected to the Supervisory Board of VfL Bochum , where he was chairman until September 2012. His successor was Hans-Peter Villis .

Ernst-Otto Stüber is married and has three grown children.
