Fritz Graff

Fritz Wilhelm Georg Graff (born April 2, 1858 in Hürth ; † September 18, 1929 in Bochum ) was Lord Mayor of Bochum from August 13, 1904 to January 26, 1925 .

Graff first became city councilor in Bochum on May 29, 1891, then second mayor on April 12, 1897 and first mayor on May 3, 1900. During his term of office, Bochum was appointed a city , so that in 1904 he was appointed mayor . In Prussian mansion Graff was 1909-1918 member.

During his term of office not only did the final change of the former rural community into a large industrial city with the incorporations, also the adversities of the First World War , the revolutionary unrest such as the Ruhr uprising and the occupation of the Ruhr area by the French army.

Graff was made an honorary citizen of Bochum on May 20, 1925 for his services to Bochum . During his lifetime, was in the Bochum district Weitmar a road of Graff Ring, named after him. He is buried in the Blumenstrasse cemetery.
