Location of Biersdorf in Rhineland-Palatinate

Biersdorf is a formerly independent municipality and today's district of the city of Daaden in the district of Altenkirchen (Westerwald) in Rhineland-Palatinate .

history

The cart on the Bürgerplatz reminds of the mining history of the place

Biersdorf is located in the Daadetal , near the parish of Daaden. Biersdorf became important for mining in Siegerland as the location of the Füssenberg , Glaskopf and Ohliger Zug mines within the Siegerland ore district . Ore was already being mined in Biersdorf at the beginning of the 18th century. After the transition to the Kingdom of Prussia as a result of the Congress of Vienna and the formation of the Altenkirchen district, Biersdorf belonged to the Daaden mayor's office from 1816 . In 1885 Biersdorf was connected to the Daadetalbahn from Betzdorf via Biersdorf to Daaden. Ore mining and metallurgy shaped the community until 1965, when the last mine was closed. After the decline of mining in the Daadetal, the village center of Biersdorf was renovated. Meanwhile, Biersdorf is the location of some medium-sized companies . During the municipal reform in Rhineland-Palatinate , Biersdorf was incorporated into the Daaden municipality on June 7, 1969, with a population of 1,616 at that time.

Biersdorf is the location of a primary school , a kindergarten and a youth center.
