Ludwig Hoffmann (politician)

Ludwig Hoffmann (born September 20, 1943 in Jürgenshof, Alt Schwerin municipality ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 1994 to July 31, 2008 he was Lord Mayor of the City of Wernigerode .

Life

Ludwig Hoffmann is the son of the agricultural scientist Erich Hoffmann and his wife Dorothee nee Knapp. In 1946 the family moved from Mecklenburg to Halle (Saale) . He attended school from 1950 to 1962 with a high school diploma . After studying for six years at the TU Dresden, he worked as a graduate engineer at VEB Elektromotorenwerk Wernigerode in the labor studies department from 1968. In 1969/70 he did his alternative military service as a construction soldier . In 1977/78 he completed an external postgraduate course in the field of work sociology at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . From 1989 to 1991 he worked in the technological development of the electric motor plant. From 1991 to 1994, when he was elected mayor of the then district town of Wernigerode, he was managing director of the Gesellschaft für Bildung und Arbeit GmbH Wernigerode.

In addition, Hoffmann worked since 1964 in various local and church-wide committees and conferences of the Evangelical Church and was a co-founder of the Wernigerode Peace Circle.

He is currently the first honorary senator of the Harz University of Applied Sciences and chairman of the Society of Friends of Wernigerode Castle.

Honors

  • On the occasion of his departure as Lord Mayor of Wernigerode on July 31, 2008, Ludwig Hoffmann received from the hands of Saxony-Anhalt's Prime Minister Wolfgang Böhmer the Cross of Merit on Ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany awarded by Federal President Horst Köhler .
  • Entry in the “Golden Book of the City of Wernigerode” on the occasion of his departure as Lord Mayor.
  • Due to his great services to the university, Ludwig Hoffmann was awarded the title "Honorary Senator of the Harz University" on November 28, 2008.
