Bernd Schleicher (born June 28, 1947 in Eschwege ) is a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the Hessian state parliament .

Education and life

After an apprenticeship (1963 to 1966) as an administrative clerk in the former district of Eschwege , Bernd Schleicher did preparatory service for the senior administrative service at the Kassel regional council from 1967 and worked there as a clerk in various departments until 1971; Most recently, he was head of the press office and therefore directly assigned to the regional president Alfred Schneider as an employee.

In the autumn of 1971 he was transferred to the newly founded Regional Planning Association North Hesse (RPN). In this, he played a key role in setting up the office of the Zweckverband as an office manager. After he had already been given teaching assignments for the subjects “budgetary, cash and accounting” as well as municipal law as a part-time lecturer at the Hessian Administrative School Association ( Verwaltungsseminar Kassel ) in 1973 , he was given the post of full-time lecturer here in 1978 and he was also temporarily Instructed by the study director.

In 1981, Bernd Schleicher moved to the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences and was appointed to the Kassel locations and, for a short time, in Gießen as a university teacher - most recently as a government director - for the subjects of public finance and local law.

On November 20, 1986, Bernd Schleicher joined the Hessian state parliament as a substitute applicant for the suddenly deceased August-Wilhelm Mende . He was a member of this as a directly elected member of the Rotenburg constituency for four electoral terms until 1999, with an absolute majority of votes in all elections. From 1991 to 1995 he was the financial policy spokesman for the SPD parliamentary group and, in this capacity, played a key role in the creation of the “ regional audit for local authorities in Hesse”. In the 14th electoral period (April 5, 1995 to April 4, 1999) he was a member of the Presidium of the State Parliament and deputy chairman of the Legal Affairs Committee.

Before and during his membership in the Hessian state parliament, Bernd Schleicher was involved in a wide range of local politics. Since 1972 he has been a community representative and district council member. From 1981 to 1987 he was First Alderman (and thus Deputy Mayor) of his community in Wehretal . For 12 years (from 1977 to 1989) he held the office of chairman of the main committee of the district council in the Werra-Meißner district . From 1985 to 1993 he was chairman of the planning committee of the regional planning assembly for North Hesse formed by the Kassel regional council.

From 1973 to 2017 he was uninterrupted honorary association chairman of the Wehretal-Sontratal wastewater association , to which five cities and municipalities of the Werra-Meißner district belong and which is responsible for the treatment of wastewater from twenty-three localities and city districts.

Honors

For his many years of meritorious commitment to the state and regional planning Bernd Schleicher was founded in 1994 as the first local politician in North Hessen, the then Minister of State Jörg Jordan awarded the Silver Plaque of Honor of the Hessian Ministry for Regional Development, Housing, Agriculture, Forestry and Nature Conservation. In 1999 he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon .

The community of Wehretal honored his work for the general public by awarding the bronze badge of honor in 1987 and the silver badge of honor in 1998.

The Wehretal-Sontratal wastewater association awarded him the title of "honorary head of the association" after he left the company in 2017. He also received the Willy Brandt Medal in 2017 for his many years of service for the SPD on many political levels .
