August-Wilhelm Mende

August-Wilhelm Mende (born October 23, 1929 in Berlin ; † November 19, 1986 ) was a Hessian politician ( SPD ) and a former member of the Hessian state parliament .

Education and life

August-Wilhelm Mende attended schools in Berlin, Leslau (Vistula) and Stendal (Altmark) and graduated from high school in 1948. He then worked as a trainee nurse at the Johanniter Hospital in Stendal and a construction worker in Münster (Westphalia). Mende then studied law in Göttingen and Münster, where he passed the first state examination. After his legal clerkship in the district court districts of Bielefeld and Münster, he passed the second state examination in 1960. As a part-time, he was a research assistant at Professor Dr. Klein (Münster). 1960 to 1966 he worked as an assistant in the administration of the German Bundestag, legal documentation department for the areas of constitutional law, community law and church law. In 1965 he became an assistant to the Special Committee on Political Parties, most recently senior councilor.

August-Wilhelm Mende was married to Brigitte Mende and had 5 children.

politics

In April 1966 August-Wilhelm Mende was elected full-time mayor of the city of Bebra . In 1972 he was re-elected for 12 years in office. From 1966 to 1983 he was a member of the zone border committee of the regional association of local authority associations, from 1978 to 1983 he was a member of the committee for law and constitution of the German Association of Towns and Municipalities and the committee of the Hessian Association of Towns and Municipalities.

Since 1964 Mende was a member of the SPD and worked there in various party offices. So he was u. a. 1982 Chairman of the SPD sub-district Rotenburg and deputy chairman of the SPD sub-district Hersfeld / Rotenburg. Mende was also a member of the ÖTV and the Arbeiterwohlfahrt .

Since 1968 Mende was a member of the district parliament and deputy chairman of the SPD district parliamentary group, and since June 1983 its chairman. From October 13, 1983 until his death in 1986, he was directly elected member of the state parliament for the Rotenburg constituency . Bernd Schleicher became a successor in the state parliament .

After August-Wilhelm Mende, the "August-Wilhelm-Mende School", a school for the practically imaginable and the physically handicapped, and the August-Wilhelm-Mende-Park in Bebra have been named after August-Wilhelm Mende.
