Ulla Brede-Hoffmann (* 9. August 1950 in Gernsbach as Ursula Brede ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After graduating from high school in Gernsbach in 1969, Brede-Hoffmann studied journalism, sociology and history at the University of Mainz and graduated with an MA in social science. From 1972 completed an apprenticeship at ZDF . From 1976 to 1979 she worked for the city administration of Mainz in the office for statistics and urban development and as a housewife. Brede-Hoffmann has two grown sons.

In 1975 Brede-Hoffmann joined the SPD, which she represented from 1979 to 1989 in the local advisory council for the Mainz-Innenstadt district. After the division of the district, she was a member of the Mainz-Altstadt local council from 1989 to 1995 . From 1988 to 1994 she was also head of the inner and old town. From 1989 to 2009 she was a member of the Mainz city ​​council . From 1995 to 2015 she was a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament . She represented constituency 27 ( Mainz I ) there. In 2009 she was re-elected as mayor of the old town of Mainz. From 1996 to 2011 she was education policy spokeswoman for the SPD parliamentary group. Since the beginning of the legislative period in 2011, she has been deputy group leader. She was a full member of the Education Committee, the Science Committee and the Enquete Commission 16/2 "Active Citizen Participation for a Strong Democracy". On April 1, 2015, she gave back her mandate, Johannes Klomann moved up as a member of parliament. In 2009 and 2012 she was a member of the Federal Assembly .
