The constituency of Mainz I (constituency 27) is one of two state constituencies in Mainz , the capital of Rhineland-Palatinate . It includes the districts of Altstadt , Neustadt , Oberstadt , Hartenberg-Münchfeld , Laubenheim and Weisenau .
Change in the constituencies of Mainz
For the 2011 state elections, the constituency still included the districts of Altstadt, Neustadt, Oberstadt, Hartenberg-Münchfeld and Mombach . As a result, the election results from 2011 and before will hardly be comparable with the subsequent ones. The northern district of Mombach was added to the Mainz II constituency through the redesign of the Mainz constituencies . In return, the southern districts of Laubenheim and Weisenau were assigned to the Mainz I constituency. A new cut was necessary because the Mainz II constituency with its previous areas had exceeded the statutory upper limit for the maximum deviation from the average population of an electoral district. However, the implementation caused dissatisfaction among some parties.
The constituencies in Mainz will be redesigned for the 2021 state election. The Mainz I constituency will then only include the inner-city districts of Altstadt, Neustadt, Oberstadt and Hartenberg-Münchfeld.
