Damian Lohr (born December 7, 1993 in Mainz ) is a German politician ( AfD ). Lohr is a member of the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament and chairman of the Junge Alternative , the youth organization of the AfD, which has been classified as a suspected case by the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution since January 2019 .

Life

Lohr graduated from high school in Weierhof in Bolanden in 2013 . He has been studying business law at a distance learning university since 2014 . He is a member of the dutiful, new right fraternity Germania Halle zu Mainz . He lives in the war field .

politics

Lohr has been a member of the AfD since March 2013 and was chairman of the Junge Alternative Rheinland-Pfalz from 2014 to 2018. From June 2013 to January 2014 he was federal treasurer, from January 2014 to November 2014 Deputy Federal Chairman of the Junge Alternative, since February 2018 he has been its Federal Chairman. In July 2020, he announced that he would not run again for the office of chairman of the Young Alternatives.

In May 2014 Lohr was elected to the district assembly of the Donnersbergkreis . In the state election in Rhineland-Palatinate in 2016 , he ran in constituency 27 (Mainz I) and was elected as the youngest member of the state parliament of Rhineland-Palatinate to date via the AfD state list (place 8) . In the state parliament he is a member of the electoral review committee as well as a full member of the committee for European issues and one world as well as the legal committee. Lohr acts as the legal, European and youth policy spokesman for his parliamentary group.

In March 2019, the Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament decided not to allow Lohr to join two bodies, the data protection commission and the interregional parliamentary council. All other parliamentary groups (SPD, FDP, Greens and the opposition CDU) accused Lohr of a lack of distance to right-wing extremist circles, the parliamentary manager of the SPD, Martin Haller , stated : “ We are of the opinion that Damian Lohr values ​​values ​​such as tolerance and freedom and does not represent cross-border cooperation ” . The previous AfD representatives remained members of the two bodies.

On March 3, 2018, Lohr marched together with members of the right-wing extremist Identitarian Movement on a demonstration in Kandel, Palatinate, on the occasion of the killing of a 15-year-old youth . He is counted to the right-wing national party wing of the AfD.
